Cebu Mactan Airport is most commonly known as Mactan-Cebu International Airport. This is Philippines` second busiest airport and it has won some awards, being among the top 20 airports in the ASEAN area two years ago. Cebu Mactan Airport has two wings that work for both domestic and international flights. Statistics show that around 4.5 million passengers pass through this airport every year. The runway measures 3,300 meters and the airport also has a new taxiway. Which is good news in case you want to grab a cab and reach your destination after a long and tiresome flight.
The Cebu Mactan Airport was named this way because it can be found in Lapu-Lapu City that is part of the Mactan Island. Due to the constant flow of passengers, the authorities have decided to add more enhancements to the airport, to refurbish it and extend it. Right now there are more international flights than domestic ones which shows that Philippines has started to be a destination chosen by a lot of people that want to change the scenery for something more exotic.
Sometimes changes are for the best so Cebu Mactan Airport will undergo some adjustments. Since the volume of passengers has increased, the airport will be extended. The terminal building will be completely modified and the authorities plan on adding more jetways and boarding bridges to welcome more tourists and to optimize the passenger flow. Another project that is taken into consideration is the addition of a whole new cargo terminal. The airport has only one terminal so there won`t be any surprise if the authorities decide to build a second terminal.
The passenger services can meet any requests you might have. If you plan on returning home with a bunch of souvenirs for you and your loved ones you can visit one of the many gift shops that can be found at the airport. In case you might get angry and want to grab a bite you can always pick a snack bar or a restaurant depending on the time you have at your disposal. If you want to eat some traditional cuisine from the Philippines, try one of the restaurants with a local theme. You`ll simply love it. There are money exchange points as well as beauty shops if you need something or if you want to see what items are on sales.
If you plan on enjoying your stay, it is best if you rent a car. This way you won`t have to be crowded like you would when travelling with public transportation and you won`t get tired easily because you won`t have to carry your heavy luggage around. And the great thing is that you won`t have to wait; the car will be right there, waiting for you.
