Things to Do
Golfing is a serious sport in this town and there are about two ideal courses you can tee with friends of the family in. Besides that, there is the allure of nature and perfect hiking trails to eerie caves and indigenous villages.
- The teeth of the Dog - it is not really canine jaws, but the name given to one of the spectacular golf courses in the city. It contains about 3 courses to play in and if you are experienced, four days will be enough to clear the entire course. There are villas for rent as well in the golf course, so you can always wake up to a club swing if you so wish.
- Cueva de las Maravillas - as you enjoy the fresh Dominican atmosphere; you can have your shorts and trainers on to hike these caves of Las Maravillas. The caves were actually engineered by men and bear some really cool artworks on the walls. You may not have the chance for a photograph, but the entire 30minute hike will definitely be worth plus the iguana display, mini-museum and souvenir shops are worth a visit on site.
- Altos de Chavon Village - a drive to Altos de Chavon in your car rental is well worth it. As you park at a designated you can begin to feel the fascination rise as you walk through the stone buildings. They say this place is a paradise during sunrises or sunsets. The village will give you a lot of information about pre-historic
- Dye Fore - they say it is by far the most beautiful golf course you will ever get to see. It is situated in Casa de Campo. But don’t let the beauty of the course full you; it is also the toughest you will play in and definitely sweat trying to score.
La Romana airport will supply you with car rentals in good condition and insured, so you won’t have a problem driving in the Dominican as a foreign tourist.
